A POEM BY PAUL SIEGELL

          anything to stay warm

          sitting
          on what most soles side-
          step—and if they don't,

          breath is held—

          roofless hands
          hold hood and hat, aiming
          vapors: the city's sidewalk

          exhaust, in,

to a face unable to be seen
